The Lady Cameron left the dock soon after the sea was calm and the sun was bright on the horizon. The smell of flesh burning from fires all over the island faded from Conrad's nostrils thanks to an easterly wind. After leaving, the shelter of the islands harbor Conrad began to see several small boats and ships all were adrift and lifeless, one had a golden retriever on the bow barking. All of the survivors on the deck watched the golden retriever bark. No one wanted to rescue the dog. The grim reaper, death was on that boat and so the dog's fate was sealed as they moved away the dogs bark faded.
